Welcome back to Tuesday Tips! This week’s tip is to look at the Card Catalog on Ancestry, FindMyPast, and FamilySearch. These Card Catalogs have a host of collections. FamilySearch by far has the largest but many of their records aren’t indexed so it’s important to look at the films. Ancestry only searches some of its databases. It’s good to look at their other collections, most are indexed so you don’t have to search by hand (although I still recommend you after a negative search). Looking at the catalogs can tell us what’s available in a specific area, I highly recommend you start out by looking at the card catalog.
